In this first issue we cover July and August 2026, and unpack the biggest story of the summer.
The World Cup Hangover
The July 19 final match split the month perfectly in half, which creates an unusually helpful before-and-after perspective at how significant a single match was on summer trading.
Daily trading dropped 57% post-final, falling from $296.5M daily to $126.6M daily, even as July closed out with $7.15B overall.
The decline was not evenly shared, and the breakdown tells the real story:

Two venues stand out:
Rothera took the biggest hit, dropping 86%. The venue bet heavily on World Cup traffic and caught massive volume upfront but kept almost none of it afterwards.
Opinion lost the least, falling only 15%. A well-diversified book allowed the venue to remain mostly protected. Holding 85% of their daily volume, Opinion had the strongest retention across the board.
The takeaway: Before mistaking summer spikes for an organic trend, consider how much was just World Cup hype.
August’s Correction
Market-wide daily volume fell 34% in August to $151.6M daily ($4.70B total), compared to July's $230.7M daily. But top-line averages mask the single most interesting insight in this month:

While the broader market fell 34%, Kalshi jumped 45%, making it the single biggest anomaly of the summer. Every other venue was experiencing the same post tournament lull.
Polymarket, still the largest venue by a wide margin, gave back 58%. It finished August at roughly the level Kalshi reached going up, which narrows the daily volume gap between them to an all-time low.
Zooming out to a four-month view, June holds the summer peak at $308M daily. July was already the beginning of the descent, and August suffered the rest of the World Cup hype. Kalshi’s growth wasn't reliant on tournament fever, which is why it stands out.
New Contenders Enter the Market
Behind August’s volume slump lies a major wave of new venues joining the board.
Novig ($210.4M) launched on August 4 and immediately claimed 5th place overall, outperforming every venue on our board, except for Polymarket, Kalshi, Opinion, and Rothera.
UDX ($95.2M) debuted on August 3.
Pariflow ($25.4M), Gemini, & Pascal joined the board in late August alongside ongoing debuts from ForecastEx, Polymarket US, and Seer.
Note: A strong first month isn't a trend line, it's a beginning. We do not assign growth percentages to new venues without a baseline.
Inside August’s Biggest Trades
Mid-summer upgrades to our instrumentation gave us two clear looks at large-ticket activity.
Limitless (Clean Full-Month Comparison)
Volume Collapse: Print count dropped 48% and total dollars fell 73% (from 2,526 prints worth $5.55M in July to 1,313 prints worth $1.51M in August).
System Cross-Check: This separate pipeline mirrors our venue-tracking data (which had Limitless down 65%). When two independent measurements agree, we take the findings more seriously.
Behavior Shift: July's largest Limitless wallet put through $77,000 across 4 prints. August's largest did $125,000 across 62. Fewer big swings, more grinding.
Polymarket (Aug 16–31 Snapshot)
We began capturing large Polymarket prints on August 16. The information that follows covers 16 days, and it is not a ranking of the summer.
The $10M Outlier: Wallet Djdjdjekekek dominated the 16-day window, moving $10.16M across 80 prints, roughly double the next closest account.
Style Contrast: High-frequency trader swisstony reached $2.99M across 606 prints, grinding small-ticket volume rather than raw size.

Djdjdjekekek claimed 6 of the top 10 largest tickets on its own. Esports took 6 slots, football took 3, and a surprise wildcard took 10th: a $594,174 bet on whether the Clarity Act passes this year, out-sizing almost every sports ticket on the list.
The Clarity Act defines whether digital assets answer to the SEC or the CFTC, which is a multibillion-dollar policy pivot for the U.S. financial system. With Congress deadlocked over ethics clauses and timeline constraints, passage odds are highly volatile. Traders dropping six-figure tickets on this contract are betting on Washington's legislative gridlock, turning policy uncertainty into high-conviction market flow. The Senate is scheduled to hold a procedural cloture vote on September 15, 2026.
